Soccer Training & Development Programs

Our Spring and Summer sessions take place every Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Park in Essex Junction. Unlike traditional team environments, athletes at Shock are grouped by ability and maturity to create an environment where every athlete is challenged—while still finding moments of success in every session.

EXPERIENCE

Small sided 3v3 & 5v5 gameplay training

All athletes at Shock participate in the Experience Gameplay Training program, our small-sided environment designed around fast-paced 3v3 and 5v5 soccer games.

Players are grouped by tier and challenged through constant repetition, guided coaching, and objective-based scenarios. Each session maximizes time on the ball and sharpens real-game decision-making by applying technical and tactical skills under pressure.

Focused Small Sided Games with Purpose

  • Gameplay objectives based on skills and real game situations

  • New teams are formed each week to keep competition balanced and fresh

  • We focus on introducing new challenges while supporting athletes in finding success

TECHNICAL

Skill development & game application

Technical Skill Development sessions are fast-paced, realistic, and designed to connect execution with match-day performance. Players gain confidence by solving challenges under pressure, refining both their technical skills and tactical awareness.

Every activity emphasizes ball control, creativity, and off-ball movement—pushing players to execute clean technique while reacting to pressure. Sessions are structured around a monthly curriculum that correlates directly to our Experience Gameplay Training program.

Players train in small groups using 1v1 and 2v2 formats to maximize time on the ball and challenge decision-making at game speed.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Ball mastery and technical consistency

  • First-touch quality, turning, and striking

  • Reaction speed and timing under pressure

  • Off-ball movement in attacking and defending roles

  • Creative decision-making in attacking, defending, and transitions

Session Focus:

  • Small group size: 5–10 athletes max

  • Scenario-based learning tied directly to game moments

CLINICS

Shock with a twist!

Focused clinics that zoom in on the specific skills needed to complete the objectives in our core curriculum.

These one-hour, high-energy sessions deliver focused training built around a single skill, tactic, or concept from our CORE Training curriculum. Each clinic challenges athletes to dive deeper into specific techniques than they would in standard weekly training.

Designed for individual development, clinics isolate key skills outside of the gameplay context. Athletes sharpen precision, build technical proficiency, and elevate execution quality—all while experiencing the familiar Shock vibe with fresh skill games and new challenges.

Specialty Skill Clinics are one-time events scheduled throughout each of our monthly training units.

Session Focus:

  • We host a clinic each month

  • Single-skill or tactical theme per clinic

  • Realistic, game-based applications

  • Focused instruction followed by fast-paced and high-rep scenarios
