Development Pathway

The progress bar below shows how our training curriculum evolves throughout the year. Each section is designed to build on the last-starting with fundamentals and leading into advanced concepts, high-intensity preseason prep, and in-season performance support.

Follow the timeline to see where you are in your development journey and what's coming next!

Ball Mastery

📅 November 1 – February 28

This foundational phase focuses on the technical habits that every high-level player needs. Athletes sharpen their first touch, ball control, and decision-making under pressure through high-repetition environments that translate directly to game performance.

Focus Areas:

  • Technical precision and clean execution

  • Confidence in tight spaces

  • Speed of play and decision-making

  • Comfort under pressure

Advanced Topics

📅 March 1 – June 30

Players are challenged to apply their skills in more complex, game-realistic situations. Training emphasizes tactical understanding, creating space, and playing with purpose in open areas and transitional moments.

Focus Areas:

  • Creating space through movement and deception

  • Delivering accurate passes over distance

  • Executing under dynamic pressure

  • Understanding positional play and timing

Fall Season Preparation

📅 July 1 – August 31

This is our most intense and accelerated phase. Over just eight weeks, players revisit the entire curriculum at game speed to build rhythm, sharpen their instincts, and enter the fall season ready to compete with confidence and clarity.

Focus Areas:

  • Fast-paced technical and tactical application

  • Repetition of key concepts across all skill areas

  • Mental sharpness and physical readiness

  • Game-like intensity in every session

Functional Season Training

📅 September 1 – October 31

Our in-season training is designed to complement club and school commitments. Sessions are built to fill developmental gaps, reinforce key habits, and keep players confident and ready each week. Athletes who aren’t yet playing at a high level still benefit from exposure to the demands of a competitive season.

Focus Areas:

  • Efficient, high-impact training aligned with team play

  • Weekly themes that mirror team demands

  • Skill reinforcement and decision-making under pressure

  • Ongoing growth and game-readiness throughout the season

Our Athlete First Approach

At Shock Sports, we believe better training creates better players. That’s why our program is built around the athlete—not the team. By removing the pressure to win games, we’re able to give players the space, tools, and coaching they need to grow faster, play smarter, and build positive habits.

Every session is thoughtfully pre-planned as part of a comprehensive curriculum that addresses all areas of the game—giving athletes exposure to the full range of skills, scenarios, and decisions needed to become complete, well-rounded players.

We Train Players, Not Teams

our athletes see results and succeed in any team environment they choose to join.

  • No specialization because of a formation or coach’s preferences.

  • No missed development windows due to season schedules or training gaps.

  • Full focus on building the skills, game understanding, and mindset that coaches look for at the next level.

A Curriculum That Connects the Dots

Every Shock session connects to the next. Our year-long curriculum is mapped out to make sure players revisit key ideas, progress through new topics, and build confidence over time.

  • Sessions are created from scratch, not pulled from a template.

  • Players know what to expect each week, which helps them stay mentally prepared.

  • In many environments, drills are the focus. At Shock, the drill is just the tool. The player is the focus.

Accelerated Growth

We see accelerated growth in all athletes who participate in our training sessions, this is primarily due to our ability to focus all of our attention on athlete centered coaching rather than trying to push players to fit in the mold of a team system.

There's a difference between running drills and developing athletes: We use our training exercises as a tool to create meaningful moments of learning, sessions are designed to challenge players in context—so we can guide, adjust, and give feedback in ways that directly impact game performance and player growth.

Groups Built for Growth

Players are grouped based on skill level and maturity—not birth year.

We Teach the Game, Not Just the Skill

You won’t find cone drills with long lines at Shock. Our sessions look and feel like the game—because that’s how players actually learn to play better.

  • Every exercise simulates real pressure, space, and decision-making.

  • Players are taught to read the game, make quick decisions, and solve problems as they go.

  • We build technical skill within tactical scenarios—so players learn how to apply it in matches.

Every Athlete Involved, Every Session

Shock athletes are here to get better—no matter where they’re starting from. That shared mindset creates an environment where players lift each other up and stay motivated to grow.

Because our groups mix players from different teams and backgrounds, athletes are constantly learning from new peers—not just the same teammates they see every day. There’s always someone to lead and someone to look up to, which keeps players focused, challenged, and inspired to improve.

  • Players are active, thinking, and involved.

  • Coaches give clear, useful feedback.

  • Athletes challenge and support each other building communication and problem solving skills.

Rewarding the Right Habits

Younger players light up in a fun, genuine way—they truly enjoy the experience. Older players appreciate the recognition too—even if they play it cool, they’re proud to be acknowledged.

We’ve designed game rules and reward systems that reinforce what matters:

  • Effort

  • Accountability

  • Decision-making

  • Communication

  • Composure

Our POWER Award system recognizes athletes who show up with intensity, execute the training objective, and raise the level of play for others.

These recognitions help prepare players for team settings and selection environments and long-term success—by making high-performance habits the standard.

Athlete Success

Success at Shock is measured in many ways. While we support and encourage athletes who want to play at the next level, we also recognize the value of progress at every stage.

  • Shock athletes have gone on to play at NCAA Division I, II, and III programs—as well as in professional leagues in the U.S. and Europe.

  • Many gain a deeper understanding of the game, a clearer sense of their strengths, and a plan to keep improving.

But success at Shock isn’t just about signing contracts. It’s about transforming the athlete’s journey. We've seen players gain confidence, find joy in their sport, and develop a strong sense of identity—both on and off the field.

We’re equally proud of the beginner who walks away with new skills, drive, and direction as we are of the advanced athlete who earns their shot at the next level. That’s what happens when you build a program that puts the athlete first.

“ I find the coaches and training style consistent. All of the coaches I've worked with so far have brought the same intensity, and they've had the same principles."
